TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
The Apple labels have 'Sold in the UK subject to' text & are with 'An EMI Recording' to sides 1 &2 but absent from sides 3 & 4. The matrix numbers indicate that this copy was among the first pressed:
Side 1: XEX 709-1
Side 2: XEX 710-1
Side 3: XEX 711-1
Side 4: XEX 712-1
The jet black inners are die-cut on one side & aside from one split to the top half seam, are unsplit at the seams with a couple of small tears and creases to the opening & die-cut. The lyric poster remains unused shows moderate general wear. The photo inserts, so often found with staples or blu tack on the back, also remain unused.
The main selling point here is the LOW NUMBERED gatefold sleeve. We know each unit of the record came with its own serial number stamped on the cover. The first numbered copy of the LP was rumoured to be John Lennon's who, according to Paul McCartney, “shouted the loudest” for it when the band decided to have the copies numbered! At number 1453, this is an investment piece, as any copy below 10,000 will only accrue value over time. The cover grades as Very Good. The spine shows a few areas of laminate splitting and shows water staining to a small section on the reverse nearest the spine with all the text legible. There is minimal age yellowing around the edges & the panels remain nice & clean with all print clearly legible.
Both vinyl discs have been professionally cleaned & grade VG+ overall. On close inspection, there is some faint cosmetic wear & minor paper hairline scuffs, with just a few light spindle marks by the centre hole with a hairline on Good Night causing a series of clicks. A recommended bluechip item.
