Following a series of raw independent recordings throughout  the 1990s, the band signed with Republic and Universal Music  Group, releasing twomajor-label albums. Originally released  at the height of the early-2000s alt-metal wave, the record  fuses emotional intensity, sharp guitar work and melodic  hooks. The album reached #119 on the Billboard 200 and  produced two singles, \"Payback\" and \"Whole\".
