groove mono vinyl LP on the red unboxed Decca label, front

variant from the Summer of 1964 playing the full 4:06 version of
'Tell Me', with 'I Need You Baby' listed on both the label & sleeve
LK4605)
See 'More Info' for further details on condition ....
TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
This copy is the 'third' UK mono issue of the first Stones LP, although Decca employees freely admit that there were multiple typesetters of the labels and they tended to keep the sleeves in a pile, so the combination of sleeve & label is a far from exact science, with many different variations turning up. In reality, it is really still a second press with the modified master that plays the full 4:06 version of 'Tell Me'. The next material difference came in 1965 when the labels dropped the 'Recording First Published' text & just had 'P 1964'.
The label lists the 'Hurran, Calvert' credit for 'Honest I Do' as well as listing 'I Need You Baby' instead of 'Mona'. It also has the 'Recordng First Published' text, dating this press to 1964.
Side 1 matrix XARL 6271-1A
Side 2 matrix XARL 6272-4A
The sleeve is front laminated with flipbacks and features the dark moody image that has become iconic with the band, also printed on the back with 'I Need You Baby' instead of 'Mona'.
The cover is in very good condition for its age. The laminate shows moderate general creasing to the front The rear of the sleeve, which has not been preserved with laminate, has begun to show the first signs of its age with a little light ringwear but nothing too excessive. A very presentable example.
Labels - The colour of the labels are deep red with bright silver print. The previous owner has written his name and there is a small sticker mark. Some marks are evident around the spindle area of either side to indicate play.
Vinyl - The disc has been professionally cleaned, there are a few mostly cosmetic scuffs & hairlines evident which do not affect play. We grade this copy VG but the disc plays through a treat.
