VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR The Least We Can Do (Withdrawn
1970 UK Limited Edition first press 6-track LP on the rough
pink Charisma 'scroll' label, with 'CAS+1007+A' &
'CAS+1007+B' stamped matrices WITHOUT the 'G'
making this the withdrawnfirst mix, housed in a gatefold
picture sleeve. Please see more info for further details
CAS1007)
TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
After hearing the finished album label owner Tony Stratton-Smith was unhappy with the mix and [without the band's knowledge and consent] took the tapes to legendary producer Shel Talmy [The Who, The Kinks] to remix some of the songs. A more bass-heavy mix overall with Refugees, Darkness and After The Flood featuring the most differences. This mix was very quickly replaced by the John Anthony mix.
This has the following stamped matrices:
CAS+1007+A
CAS+1007+B
Condition
The fragile matt picture sleeve displays some light general wear mostly to the edges, and just a few light creases, with a minor strip of paper loss in the top corner over the title on the front but has no rips or splits.
The textured labels are very clean with a few spindle marks, and the vinyl remains Excellent, shows only a few light signs of play with only a couple of very light hairlines.
A really nice example.
1. Darkness (11/11)
2. Refugees
3. White Hammer
4. Whatever Would Robert Have Said
5. Out Of My Book
6. After The Flood
