VARIOUS The Story Of The Blues (1969 UK plain orange label 32-track double LP compiled by Paul Oliver, featuring rare original blues tracks from 1927-1968, intended as a companion piece to his book of the same name. The selection opens with the Fra-Fra Tribesmen recorded in Ghana, nothing but vocals over a fiddle & rattle! The discs then take you through the early works, chronologically, of Charley Patton, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson & some obscure names - blinding stuff. The front laminated gatefold sleeve shows some light edge creasing & a little foxing on the inside, whilst the vinyl discs are Excellent with the odd cosmetic hairline mark and a little spindlewear from play)
