AMBROSE SLADE Beginnings (Ultra rare 1969 first UK issue
12-track stereo LP on the black & silver Fontana label, the debut
longplayer from Noddy, Dave, Jim & Don, better known as Slade.
This recording dates from their pre-success period when they
were a dynamite band struggling in Midlands clubs, delivering
powerhouse versions of contemporary classics like Knockin Nails
Into My House [Idle Race], Martha My Dear [Beatles] & Journey
To The Centre Of The Mind [Amboy Dukes], housed in a fully
laminated picture sleeve. See 'more info' for details on
condition... STL5492)
TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
Condition
The sleeve is firmly in the Very Good bracket condition wise, that's not to say it's not a lovely copy, but there is a fair degree of creasing to the laminate around the edges, and some edge & corner wear with some slight paper loss, and has a small tear on the opening edge. Despite some storage scuffing, all print remains clearly legible, including along the spine. This is only the second copy we have ever seen, so to find the sleeve in any condition is nothing short of a miracle.
The vinyl has obviously seen some turntable action, with some noticeable spindle marks around the label, the vinyl has some light paper scuffs & hairlines, however, playback quality is far above the VG/VG- grading we would normally give on visual inspection. The sound is superb and, of course, the album packs quite a punch.
By no means a mint copy [this one is double the price & then some in the book!], we are nonetheless pleased to have finally tracked down a serviceable example. Not only would this be a serious, welcome addition to any Slade collection but would no doubt complete it!
