DON RENDELL & IAN CARR Dusk Fire - 1st (A record of extreme
magnificence... the original 1966 UK 7-track MONO vinyl LP on
the blue & black Columbia label in the Lansdowne Series, starring
Ian Carr [Trumpet, Flugelhorn], Don Rendell [Tenor Saxophone,
Soprano Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet], Michael Garrick [Piano],
Dave Green [Bass] & Trevor Tomkins [Drums]. This was
arguably the greatest British-Jazz album ever made, & the closest
we got to replicating the magic of Miles Davis-John Coltrane-Bill
Evans on Kind Of Blue. Bold statement indeed, but have you
heard this? Never before stocked & highly recommended, housed
in the original front laminated flipback sleeve & complete with the
company inner, see 'more info' for condition... SX6064)
TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
What a treat we have here... A one owner copy of Dusk Fire, bought from new back in the day. What you get is the very best, most stylistic & individual sounding players in British Jazz coming together for a kind of "supergroup". And it works. The compositions are outstanding, there is inspiration drawn from the pioneering modal jazz coming from the States as well as a touch of Eastern exotica. The interplay between the individual members of the group was telepathic & rewards the listener with repeat enjoyment.
Condition
What can be said about a sleeve as well kept as this? It looks beautiful. There are no major blemishes to mention other than a little ring wear causing the odd faint crease, nothing of any real consequence. There are no splits or writing & the panels are clean, with all text clearly legible including the spine. Excellent condition allround.
Labels & Vinyl
The labels are the original blue & black design with 'Sold In U.K.' print. The matrices in the run-outs end '1U/1U'. The spindle hole reveals only light signs of play either side, as to be expected.
The surface of the vinyl is nice & clean. Playback quality is exceptional with perhaps just the lightest surface ambience in the quietest of sections. The vinyl easily reaches a healthy EX+ grade & is easily the best example we're ever likely to see.
Do not hesitate on this!
