MOTORHEAD 1916 (Pure Pleasure Analogue limited editon 11-track LP pressed on 180-gram black vinyl, remastered by Ray Staff at AIR Mastering. The real swansong of the dream line-up of Lemmy, Phil Campbell, Wurzel and Philthy Animal Taylor, 1916 raised the bar with it’s ‘all-killer-no-filler’ approach, not a duff track to be heard. The One To Sing The Blues as potent a statement of intent for the rest of the album as you’re ever likely to get; pure Motorhead, a sonic kick in the guts and a heart punch in the lyrics. Gatefold picture sleeve with original Craig Nelson-designed cover artwork, hype sticker & factory sealed. Recommended)

TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
Motörhead's ninth studio album, 1916, released in January 1991, was their first on WTG Records. The single "The One to Sing the Blues" peaked at No. 45. The album was the final Motörhead album to feature Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor on drums in its entirety.

The album deals with themes of war, mortality, and the human experience. Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister wrote the title track after watching a U.K. television program about the 1916 Battle of the Somme on which a veteran reminisced about his friend dying in his arms with half his face blown off.

Opening banger, "The One To Sing The Blues," sets the tone for the album with its driving rhythm and aggressive guitar riffs. Other standout tracks include the hauntingly beautiful ballad "Love Me Forever," which features Lemmy Kilmister's raspy vocals, and the anti-war anthem "1916," an uncharacteristically slow ballad, is a powerful commentary on the brutality of war and its impact on soldiers.

Throughout the album, Motörhead showcases their signature sound of heavy, distorted guitars, thunderous drums, and Lemmy's unmistakable vocals. The band also experiments with different musical styles, incorporating acoustic guitar and piano on tracks like "Angel City" and "Nightmare/The Dreamtime."

The album was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 1992 Grammys, but lost to Metallica's Metallica (The Black Album), released approximately six months after 1916.

1916 remains a fan favorite and a heavy metal classic, showcasing Motörhead at the height of their creative powers.
