THE HOLLIES Would You Believe? (Rare 1967 South African
14-track Mono vinyl LP on the black & silver Parlophone label
similar to the Black & Yellow UK varieties, unique front laminated
flipback picture sleeve with 'Record Pressed for or by a
Registered User' credit on the reverse PMCJ7008)
See 'More Info' for further details ...
TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
This curiosity has unique black & silver labels that are similar to the Black & Yellow UK varieties, but with a different Parlophone logo, with the title above the centre hole and band name below.
The sleeve also resembles the UK version but has no mono or stereo logo printed on the front and 'Record Pressed for or by a Registered User' credit on the back.
Condition:
The sleeve shows several small creases at the edges & corners with a little laminate shrinkage leading to a bit of lift at the spine, though nothing extreme. There is some distressing at the opening and a little edge scuffing, but surprisingly little general shelfwear. The past owner has written their name and the date '25.3.67' on the reverse. All in all it could be a lot worse.
Upon playtesting, the vinyl does exhibit a degree of constant background noise, which is not to be unexpected for an item of this age from Southern Africa. Visually, there are several light scuffs, although no deep scratches and nothing that affects play.
Not mint, no, but a very acceptable copy of this extremely rare first South African pressing at an advantageous price.

02. Hard Hard Year
