TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
Released on 31st March 1969, this was the world debut of Led Zeppelin.
The very first UK issue had this Turquoise lettered sleeve. The rear picture is a degree more brown tinted than the later orange copies.
There is a noticeable grey bar at the bottom of the front image which characterised the Polydor pressings and was removed when they changed to Warner distribution.
The reverse of the sleeve has the 'Uptight An' Outasight' credit that was replaced with a Warner credit after the Polydor issues.
The labels have 'Superhype' and 'Jewel Music' credits under the tracklisting and the side one label has been corrected and now does not erroneously credit the third track twice, with the Superhype credit now listing '1, 2, 4' and not '1, 3, 4'.
The labels are the familiar plum & red design with black fan to the right, 'Made in Gt. Britain' at the top & 'Polydor Records Limited' at the bottom.
More details on Condition:
Sleeve
The sleeve shows some creasing some laminate lift and minor line cracking to the spine & a few scuffs. It is free of any rips/tears etc with all text legeible and the front image is still very white - a more than acceptable copy of this rare and iconic sleeve variant.
Vinyl
The matrix numbers are 588171 A//1 & 588171 B//1, without any correction, so the third digit has not been scratched out and replaced.
The labels have spindle wear by the centre hole to show a large amount of play.
The vinyl grades Good. Although there are multiple hairlines, scuff marks & the odd scratch these have little effect on play.
We have play tested this classic album & what a treat it was to hear. Thanks to the superior quality of vinyl from this period, when played the effect of these light cosmetic blemishes is minimal, although the odd pop & click can be heard at times.
This is a well loved copy of an album that takes legendary status in the history of British Rock. By no means mint, a 'turquoise' Zep is a prize collectable in any condition in this day & age & should not be missing in any collection.
