The black and yellow Parlophone labels have vivid colours and clear text with just a few spindle marks around the centre hole.

The matrix numbers are XEX 637-1 on side one and XEX 638-1 on side two.

We would grade this copy GOOD overall. It has obviously lived the sixties but as first pressings go, this still looks & sounds amazing. We have professionally cleaned the disc on a top of the line Matrix machine & play tested both sides, given its anniversary this year and all. The performance remains outstanding.

Visually speaking, the cover grades VG+, with some peel to the laminate along the spine forgiveable with age & otherwise just some mild wear & scuffing. The psychedelic 'flame' inner has a thin hairline split at the bottom, as is often the way but is so often missing altogether. The cut-out sheet is unaffected by the ravishes of time. By no means mint, this is a decent & complete example of the original mono cover.

The vinyl grades GOOD & displays mutiple hairline scuffs & the odd light scratch but playback reveals no great loss in fidelity. On a mono setting, only the lightest spot of background surface is detectable in the quieter sections, with no distortion. The majesty of this album overtakes any condition defects & this copy is priced advantageously, could be your chance to own a genuine Pepper first mono pressing!
