TOM PETTY Wildflowers (The definitive audiophile edition of Tom Petty's acclaimed 1994 album Wildflowers - newly presented as a Because Sound Matters One-Step pressing. This edition is sourced directly from the original analogue master tapes and mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Using the One-Step process, seven lacquers were cut directly from the master tapes, eliminating additional plating stages and reducing generational loss between lacquer and final stamper. The album is pressed on 180-gram high-definition vinyl at RTI and housed in a Stoughton Printing "Old Style" double pocket tip-on gatefold jacket, created specifically for this release using the original artwork. The records are presented inside a uniquely designed, individually numbered slipcase. This initial pressing is limited to 6,000 copies worldwide. Originally released in 1994 and produced by Rick Rubin alongside Tom Petty and Mike Campbell, Wildflowers marked a creative reset in Petty's catalogue, combining stripped-back arrangements with a more intimate songwriting approach. Drawn from a larger body of material initially conceived as a double album, the final track selection includes "You Don't Know How It Feels," "You Wreck Me," "It's Good To Be King," and "A Higher Place," alongside the enduring title track. For this One-Step edition, Tom Petty's longtime audio archivist Ryan Ulyate was involved throughout the production process, providing detailed oversight of the master tapes during cutting. Original album package designer Jeri Heiden was also brought back to realise the expanded double gatefold presentation. This version sets a new benchmark for the album's sound and presentation. Wildflowers was originally recorded, mixed and mastered on analog tape, so this One-Step version is a true all-analog presentation as Chris Bellman carefully cut seven lacquers from the original master tapes as the source for this incredible sounding release!

Tom's audio archivist Ryan Ulyate was involved at every step and provided invaluable information and research along the way — including keeping a close eye on the master tapes as lacquer after lacquer was cut. Wildflowers original album package designer,
Jeri Heiden was brought in to create the beautiful double gatefold jacket.

Because Sound Matters listened to and analyzed many different vinyl pressings, CDs and Hi Rez audio to be certain the magic coming off the tapes would transcend every other pressing — all of which sound great.
