ASTRUD GILBERTO / WALTER WANDERLEY TRIO A Certain Smile A Certain Sadness (1978 Japanese sample issue of the 1966 11-track stereo vinyl LP with custom promotional white Polydor labels, picture sleeve with Japanese insert and obi-strip. TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
Produced in the United States by Creed Taylor who initially brought the Wanderley Trio, consisting of organist and pianist Walter, Claudio Slon (drums) and Jose Marino (bass), to the U.S. to record. It was São Paulo's dynamic young organ virtuoso who also first gave Antonio Carlos Jobim's The Girl From Ipanema its wings, though it was with a different group that Astrud Gilberto flew to fame with her recorded version. Additional players on this fantastic set include Claudio Slon on drums and Bobby Rosengarden on percussion. Not to be missed!
