TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
More Information
What we have here is one of the most sought after worldwide David Bowie collectables - the original pressing of what is generally regarded as the first Bowie album proper, performed by Bowie and a cast of uncredited 'Friends' including Herbie Flowers, Rick Wakeman, Moody Blues bassist John Lodge and [on 'Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud'] Mick Ronson.
Despite this stellar line-up and the success of the 'Space Oddity' single, the album was a commercial failure, hence its scarcity today - it would be reissued in 1972 by RCA, but with a new title and an alternate sleeve.

This original gatefold sleeve design features an image of Bowie on the front based on Hungarian-born artist Victor Vasarely's piece 'CTA 25 Neg', with George Underwood's drawing 'The Depth Of The Circle' on the reverse illustrating aspects of the album's lyrics. The lyrics themselves are printed across the centre of the gatefold.

This is an item that defines 'rare'. They just don't come along very often.

Condition
Due to its matt finish, the sleeve has succumbed to some minor edge scuffing & storage wear in its time, there is a handwritten name at the top (in blue, so hard to see clearly), the spine has scuffed so that no text is legible, there is a split to the back bottom flipback, reaching a fair grade.

The labels have some marks around the spindle holes to show it has been played a few times.

We have professionally cleaned & play tested the vinyl. It shows light scuffing and a few hairlines throughout; in the quieter sections during playback some low surface noise and a few light 'clicks' can be detected.

Overall, this is a fair copy, an ideal collection filler & play copy at an advantageous price.
