double LP compiled by Paul Oliver, featuring blues tracks from
1927-1968, intended as a companion piece to his book of the
same name. The selection opens with the Fra-Fra Tribesmen
recorded in Ghana, nothing but vocals over a fiddle & rattle!
The discs then take you through the early works,
chronologically, of Charley Patton, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson
& some highly obscure names - Blinding stuff. The gatefold
sleeve is Excellent & the vinyl looks barely played)
