This large format exquisite volume (330mm x 250mm) comprises 292 pages and over 250 photographs and text on Jimi's early appearances in London clubs; playing on French and British TV shows; at his Brook Street flat; at Monterey Pop; at the Miami Pop Festival; on tour with The Monkees; recording at Olympic Studios in London and Electric Lady Studios in New York; at Winterland; with Gypsy Sun and Rainbows at Woodstock; with the Band of Gypsys at the Fillmore East and countless other live performances, interviews and photo shoots in a variety of countries and locations.
Jimi's innovative style has been reflected in the book's striking design. Inspired by Sixties and Seventies psychedelia and Jimi's love of visuals and colour, fluorescent inks have been selected to run throughout the book. The six fluorescent inks; yellow, orange, green, red, pink and purple - each represent one of six guitar strings, a leitmotif that can be seen on the box, signature page and title pages. In addition to the fluorescence, silver printing is used throughout to complement the extensive use of 4-colour printing and image varnishing.
In an effort to emphasise the vitality of the images, each has been reproduced clean on the page, un-cropped and full frame as originally composed through the photographer's lens. Colours have been run over some photographs by double printing fluorescent inks.
